Despite this, I've recently started reading a manga titled: Akagami no Shirayukihime (赤髪の白雪姫), written by Sorata Akizuki.
It's really, really good.
For example, I think that Akagami no Shirayukihime is doing an excellent job balancing romance with humour, fantasy and even action elements. Actually, you know what, I really love what this author has done in relation to incorporating romance! It's not overly sappy, and the other thing about it (which is probably the most important) is that it's not exactly the typical, fairytale romance that will almost never happen in real life. Sure, there are some relatively unrealistic coincidences that occur early on in the story, but in comparison to other animes, this is a pretty mild take on 'unrealistic coincidences'.
Gah, I feel like I should really say some more about how great this manga is, though I'm worried, no, I know that I'm going to spoil certain elements of it, so I'll hold back for now!
As I've just said, I have only just started reading this, so I haven't really gotten that far to get a solid grasp on everything, but so far, I'm really enjoying it! As things currently stand, I'd probably rank it pretty high up my all-time favourite mangas list.
It's a pity that it hasn't been serialised by one of those North American manga licensing companies though... I would've gone to probably buy all the books haha....
....hey, supporting the mangaka is a good way to show your appreciation, especially if you've really enjoyed their work!
It's not because I'm like a big spender or anything..........*cough*
